Batik house Dempo is a modern-ethnical house owned by a couple with a deep-rooted Javanese culture family and have a great interest in arts, culture and antiques –both have their own career- with two children. They wished to have a house which meant to be lived in long term and could fulfill their activities as well as the needs of refreshing after their routines outside.
Through an intense study, we got an idea to create a house with strong and unique concept which is a modern concept space wrapped in traditional form. Therefore, we created 2 main masses wrapped in Kawung batik pattern GRC and a connecting mass covered with timber which both represents Javanese culture characteristic.
