Disguised of The Box

“From a building right in front of my windows, I can observe the speed of the sunrises and sunsets. The voice of children playing, laughing, yelling and crying on the playground craw; up to the place where I write.”

– Andrea Hirata

Basically the building is not supposed to be created “pompous” and “arrogant” and impressed the enormous weight. Asking and persuading the client about the truly needs is one of solution. With clients who are enthusiastic and helped by the intense communication, the value of understanding the need of space is fulfilled. Break down into several main mass of the building is considered futile, since it can not prevent the building to be impressed pompous, the next idea is to use horizontal clear lines that is part of the mass placement of the first floor in the front building area.

In this project, the Architects team tried to explore about “inside – outside”. This exploration process can be seen by the existence of Kabana in front of the master bedroom, also the use of transparent sectors and also sequences the material used from outside to inside the building further strengthens the flluid sphere between inside and outside space. So that the residents can feel as if they were outside of the building despite the fact that they are still inside. The impression of open-air but practically personalized is the first impression people can get from the house when they are inside of it.
